1991 CUSTOM CAROLINA 47
Call boat owner Tim [removed phone]. Engines refurbished in 2008. Hull Construction Hull constructed in 1991 in Marshallberg, NC by Buddy Harris, 2nd generation of Harris Boat Works. We are only the second owners of the boat, and we have owned the boat since February of 2000. This vessel is frame and plank construction. It has 1 1/4" juniper strip planking with a layer of 18-8 fiberglass mat on top for rigidity. This translates into a bulletproof hull to give this boat a solid ride even in heavy seas. Virtually every part of this boat has been overhauled since we purchased the boat in 2000 and has had continual meticulous upkeep. Aug 2000 - New exterior paint, curatins, electronics. June 2001 - Total mechanical overhaul with new engines, transmissions, generator, all new mechanical systems, plumbing and electrical. July 2002 - Fiberglass mat on complete hull, installation of tuna door, complete paint. August 2003 - Replaced fuel and water tanks. Increased fuel capacity to 600 gal. July 2007 - August 2008 - The most notable overhaul was completed in August of 2008. This was a huge undertaking that lasted 14 months. The hardtop and half tower were replaced and the whole bridge was remodeled. The transom fish box has now been insulated, faired, finished and Awlgripped inside. This makes a very strong fish box that holds ice for a long time and is extremely easy to clean. The head was completely gutted and rebuilt to use space more efficiently and to make bathroom easier to clean. The entire boat was faired, prepped and painted. There was new hardware installed through most of the boat, mechanical systems reworked, new lights installed and all electronics were rewired. Mechanical Specs The boat is powered by twin Cummins 450-C diesels. They are 2001 year models and were installed in July 2001. They have roughly 900 hours on them. They are in excellent condition and have just been serviced by Demann Marine Power in Wilmington, NC in August 2008. Demann removed the heat exchangers, aftercoolers, raw water pumps and turbos and took these parts to the shop to clean and service them. They also adjusted the valve lash and replaced belts, hoses, impellers on the engines while in place. The oil has been changed every 100 hours, even though Cummins suggests only needed every 300 hours. They are ready to fish.
